    1. Why has the British Consulate General made this change?
VFS is committed to providing excellent visa support services for the British Consulate General in Indonesia. We are a specialist organization with world-wide operations servicing diplomatic missions in a range of locations. See our international website at www.vfsglobal.com for more details.

Since January 2006, we have served and supported the visa operations of the British Consulate General in Indonesia. All electronic links to UK Visas information have been approved by the British Consulate General. All information has the prior approval of the British Consulate General.

These improved services have been developed in direct response to increased demand and feedback from Visa Applicants. We make applying for a UK visa easier and more convenient - with four times longer opening hours and enabling customers to track the progress of their application online or by telephone. We also have UK Visa Application Centers in India, Singapore, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, China, Ghana, Qatar, Indonesia, Nigeria, Russia and Thailand. Feedback from Visa Applicants there has been very positive.

      - Comfortable seating arrangements that can accommodate a large number of customers.
      - Four times longer public opening hours for application and collection.

    4. What type of applications should be made at the UK Visa Application Centre?
The Centre accepts applications for all UK Visas. The British Consulate General no longer accepts any applications submitted direct to them.

    5. How do I pay?
Visa fees must be paid in Indonesian Rupiah in cash only. This can either be paid at the teller counters of Standard Chartered Bank in Jakarta Kebon Jeruk, Kelapa Gading, Kemang, Pondok Indah & Sudirman or at the Visa Application Centre. This service is at no additional cost to you.

Fee is payable on application, for each applicant, including children, and is non-refundable. An official receipt authorized by the British Consulate General will be given to you when you submit your passport at the Visa Application Centre.

    6. What documents do I need to supply to make an application?
Details of documents required for the various categories of visa are listed on the UK Visa Application Centre website.

    7. How long will it take to process my application?
This decision will still be made by UK Border Agency staff at the British Consulate General. Applicants are advised to provide sufficient time for their applications to be processed and we recommend they allow at least 15 working days (for visitors / non-settlement) and 3 months (for settlement) in case an interview or further documents are required. You will be informed within five working days if you require an interview.

The British Consulate General aims to process straightforward, fully documented applications meeting the Fast Track criteria within 5 working days (see Fast Track page).

Unfortunately there will invariably be times - particularly at peak travel times - when we cannot reach these standards with all applications.

The British Consulate General does NOT recommend the purchase of a flight ticket in advance of a visa. However, they do suggest the submission of an indicative flight itinerary, which can be booked free of charge from most travel agents in Indonesia.

    8. Will I need an interview?
This decision will still be made by British Consulate General. Only those applicants will be called for interview that the British Consulate General really needs to see in order to make a decision on their application. You will be informed within two working days if you need an interview.

    9. How will I know when my visa is ready for collection?
You can also call the call centre of the UK Visa Application Centre on 62 21 5140 1583/ + 62 21 5140 1584 to check when your visa is ready for collection.

    10. Will my documents be safe?
Yes. Documents are transported by van in a secure manner. Their whereabouts are tracked at each stage of the application process.

    11. What do I do if I am not happy with the service I receive from the UK Visa Application Centre?
